The space: Located adjacent to the cinema in Elements, this Kowloon eatery is the perfect spot to grab a bite before or after a movie. With simple, clean décor, this bright and airy space is the epitome of “casual comfort dining”. There’s a large communal table that can comfortably seat 12 and separate tables for more intimate dining. There’s also a bar top with barstools, perfect for sharing a milkshake on.
The food: The signature MO burger (mushroom and onion) will cost you a very reasonable $60 and is an incredibly juicy thick patty made with 100% US Angus beef, topped with a slice of cheese, homemade cream sauce, and fresh lettuce and tomato. Everything is made in-house, including the patties, which are shaped on site and never frozen. The truffle cheese fries ($55) are topped with a homemade cheddar cheese blended with Italian black truffles and went down a treat. Anyone who loves truffles will relish this luxurious take on the regular side of fries and ketchup. (Foodie tip: You may want to consider ordering an extra side of sauce for $25, just because it’s that good). The peanut butter chocolate banana milkshake ($42) is made with real ice cream, bananas, chocolate chips, and chunky peanut butter. Thick and creamy, and not too sweet, this milkshake is the ultimate crowd pleaser. Good milkshakes are incredibly hard to find in Hong Kong but this might just be one of the better ones. The honey grilled chicken salad ($59) was a surprising favourite of the night with its perfectly marinated, tender and grilled-to-juicy-perfection chicken.
Overall: With its very reasonable prices and delightful dishes, Chips Republic is a must try the next time you find yourself in Elements, particularly for those truffle cheese fries!
